In May 2011, we traveled to Istanbul & Athens, then sailed up the eastern Adriatic along the coasts of Greece, Albania, Montenegro, the Dalmation Coast of Croatia, and ended the trip with five days along the Italian Amalfi Coast. As with several recent trips, the sailing portion was with Lindblad and National Geographic Expeditions; this time aboard the Panorama, a beautiful sail boat, with about 35 other travelers. The pre- and post- sailing portions of the trip were partly on our own and partly with great travel friends, Larry & Corene.

Bottom line is that the entire trip was outstanding (except possibly for a couple days in Naples).
- Istanbul was beautiful and exceedingly friendly, definitely a place we'll return to and explore even more deeply along with the rest of Turkey.
- Athens, despite the economic unrest was a wonderful find; great food, friendly people, and one of the best museums (The New Acropolis Museum) we've ever visited.
- The voyage aboard the Panorama was outstanding. taking us to many historic and beautiful coastal islands and coastal villages.
- Along the Amalfi coast we explore Pompeii, Sorrento, Paeustum, and several other coastal villages.

Enjoy the photos.
