Bats and Birds

The Gomantong Caves are inhabited by hundreds of thousands of wrinkle-lipped free-tailed bats and white swiftlet birds, both nesting here on the ceiling of the Swiftlet Slit, a narrow, vaulted section of the cave. The green rock walls may be cyanobacteria, which is often found in limestone caves.
