Ahu Tahira

Extraordinary stone masonry – large, carefully fitted slabs of basalt. This & Vinapu are very different from any other stonework in Polynesia. Likely due to Incan influence in the 16th century. Though radiocarbon dating may point to an earlier date, which would indicate an evolution of Rapa Nui stonework independently.
